Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) is a system used to record caregiver work hours. Caregivers clock in and out daily by calling an agency-provided toll-free number from the participant’s home using a landline telephone.

Pre-employment training:

• 24 hours of training
• Held twice per month at one of our locations

Ongoing training:

• Semi-annual (twice per year)
• 6 hours per session for all employees

This ensures caregivers remain knowledgeable and up to date on best practices.

You may request a caregiver change by contacting the provider agency that assigned the caregiver and asking for a replacement.

Caregivers may not:

• Prepare meals for anyone other than the client
• Perform housekeeping or laundry for non-clients in the household
• Purchase tobacco products
• Purchase alcohol
• Purchase lottery tickets

Failure to follow these rules may result in caregiver replacement or suspension of services.

Caregivers provide non-medical Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:

• Personal care
• Grooming and dressing
• Housekeeping and laundry (client-related only)
• Shopping
• Escorting to appointments
• Meal preparation for the client only

• Family member caregivers: Every 3 months (quarterly)
• Non-family caregivers: Every 6 months (semi-annually)

These visits ensure quality care and compliance with program requirements.

Yes. A family member may serve as your caregiver as long as they are not your spouse, legal guardian, payee trustee, or someone who holds power of attorney for you.

When evaluating a home care agency, you may want to ask the following questions:

• Is the agency willing and able to meet my specific care needs?
• Is the agency licensed, insured, and bonded?
• Are caregivers employees of the agency (not independent contractors)?
• Are caregivers fully certified?
